The improvements over my original DIY time lapse slider include lower weight, slimmer profile, moving the motor position to the centre, the inclusion of a quick release for the camera support, and increasing the travel to 1.28m.

DIY Time Lapse and Video Camera Slider

An updated, lighter, slimmer and longer travel version of this slider can be seen here. My entry into motion time lapse photography has been something of a comedy of errors. Last year I bought a basic Igus rail with the intention of building a DIY slider.
